when you work graveyard hours, you and your colleagues tend to talk a little more freely. except, sobrang freely naman ni officemate mag express ng opinion. today, officemate talked about how most of us were getting "fatty". yes, you know you're in singapore when naiiba ang english ng mga tao.

officemate says: "you, ays, you are getting fatty!"

we all had a laugh. i guess they were laughing at how easily they said that. in the past, i would have been offended, pero the way it was said was so amusing, parang tamang tama yung grammar. hahaha. if someone told me that a few years ago, i would have sent them a withering look and turned my suplada mode "on", but i think i've come to terms with my body issues at this point, that i really don't mind what others say about the way i look.

that also reminded me of my spa attendant a few years ago when i was getting a facial. she said that "i must avoid heaty foods, so my skin doesn't get oily". bago pa lang ako sa singapore no'n, and i didn't get what "heaty" meant. apparently, it meant "spicy". pero mas sanay sila sa "heaty", so "heaty" it is.
